Eco-friendly
Why are they eco-friendly?
In the clay shooting world, clay targets/clay pigeons/clays are measured on their content of PAH* to determine whether they are eco-friendly or not.
We have ensured ours contain less than 0,2 mg PAH pr. kg. Which means they fulfill the current environmental requirements, and they are future-proof against new requirements.
Click here to see our PAH test report.
To compare with the current regulations in Denmark, we found the following statement: “Content of PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) in the used clay pigeons can not exceed 10 mg/kg.”
You can find their environmental approval, together with the rest of Denmark’s shooting ranges by clicking here.
*PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) is a group of hydrocarbons, which poses a possible health and pollution problem that can have a negative impact on soil, wildlife, groundwater and surface water.
What material are they made of?
Our Bio-Clays+ are made of a biodegradable granulate based on reclaimed potato, grain, root and seed flour based resources. (Also referred to as starch) In addition, 2% dye is added to the granulate to get the desired color.
FAQ
How to transport?
On all our packaging boxes we indicate how to store and transport the clays. Here is the most important factors to keep your clays intact.
- Always transport them standing up. (There is arrows indicating which way should be pointing up.)
- Keep dry and out of sunlight.
- The clays are fragile, so handle with care.
- One crack in the target will cause it to break during launch.
- Do not expose the clays to higher temperatures than mentioned on the packaging.
How to store?
- Since the material is biodegradable it is crucial that our Bio-Clays+ are stored below 55 degrees Celsius / 130 degrees Fahrenheit and at a dry location.
- Do not store them in direct sunlight at higher temperatures than 45 degrees Celsius/113 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Do NOT leave the Bio-Clays+ in a vehicle etc. on a warm day (+25 degrees celcius / 77 degrees Fahrenheit), a vehicle (dependent on color etc.) can within 1-2 hours become twice as hot as the temperature outside.
Can I use normal clay throwers with your clay targets?
No, you can NOT use normal clay pigeon throwers with our clay targets. You can only use our clays which you can find here.
Are your clays getting crushed often?
The average traditional clay thrower has a 5% chance to crush/break the clay during launch.
Our clays currently have the same chance of breaking (5%). If your clays are breaking more than 5% of the launches, here’s what you can do to prevent it in the future.
- Store the clays in lower temperatures than mentioned on the packaging and in a dry location. (30/55 degrees celcius dependent on which clays you are using)
- Be careful and handle the clays with care to avoid damaging them.
If they have been exposed to higher temperatures than mentioned on the packaging. (They will feel rubbery)
Please store the clays at a temperature lower than mentioned on their packaging and they will return to their original brittle properties over time. (The lower the temperature the faster it’ll go, but don’t go below 5 degrees celcius.)
Thousands of clay shooters love our products
Practice your shooting anywhere anytime, hasslefree.
The pigeons are light to transport and it takes less than a minute to setup and shoot.
They provide a very lifelike and challenging escape, since their design and low weight makes them unpredictable like a real bird.
We have been told our clay targets are the most realistic ones out there! (Read more here.)
Eco-friendly
They are eco-friendly, since they contain less than 0,2 mg PAH pr. kg. (Read more under the tab “Eco-friendly”)
The clay pigeons only weigh 21% of the traditional pigeons and takes up less space in nature while degrading.
During transport CO2 emissions are up to 4,8 times lower compared to the traditional clay pigeons of 110g.
We can ship up to 75% more clay targets on a regular EU-pallet, compared to the traditional 110 g clay pigeon. (14400 versus 8250 clay pigeons.)
Biodegradable
The clay pigeons do not only differ by their significant lower weight, but they are also made of a biodegradable material, which means they live up to the increasing demands for sustainability and environmental considerations.
Basically this means that you don’t have to pick up the pieces from the clay pigeons, which over time will dissolve in nature.
It is expected that the clays will dissolve in nature after 6 years. (Dependent on environmental conditions such as moisture, temperature and microbial activity, you can read more here.)
Most traditional clay pigeons do not biodegrade.
