Sustainable shooting: How Nordic Clays fits into the bigger picture

Traditional shooting practices often have significant environmental impacts, including waste generation and pollution. The use of non-biodegradable targets and ammunition can lead to long-lasting environmental damage. Therefore, adopting sustainable practices in clay shooting sports is essential to minimize these negative effects and to sustain and improve the non-shooters view of the sport.

Biodegradable

Two of the key contributions to sustainable shooting is the development of clay pigeons made of biodegradable materials.
Secondly they only weigh 21% per clay target versus the traditional clay target of 110g. (Almost 5 times less !)

Unlike traditional clay targets, which can persist in the environment for centuries, these biodegradable alternatives break down naturally in less than a century. This significantly reduces the environmental footprint of shooting activities, making them a preferred choice for environmentally conscious shooters.

Nordic Clays is committed to produce clay targets that are as eco-friendly as possible. The company utilizes materials which consist of as little PAH's (Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) as possible to ensure that the soil, wildlife and groundwater does not get polluted during the degradation. (Less than 0.2 mg PAH pr. kg).

We strive to use as little packaging materials as possible and by choosing more sustainable alternatives such as paper where possible instead of plastic.
For example when you receive the TrapMaster, the suitcase it comes in is surrounded by a plastic bag. The reason for that is when we receive the suitcase from our supplier they use a plastic bag – so we reuse it instead of using a brand new one.

You might also have wondered why our cardboard boxes always look a bit different and doesn't have the same color consistently.
All our cardboard boxes are made of 90-98% recycled paper, because of this high recycle percentage it gives our final cardboard boxes a different color every time.
But by using recycled paper we avoid using new raw materials and instead recycle the old to prolong their lifecycle.

Optimizing the dimensions of our cardboard boxes also have a positive impact, the more products we can fit into our packaging boxes (within reason), the less materials we use to ship our goods. Win-win for mother nature and us.
